kiwi pre-sorbet

Tools needed: freezer container, spatula, blender

Simple Kiwi Sorbet

10 kiwis

1/2 cup hot water

1/2 cup sugar

1 T lemon juice

Peel and chop the kiwis into quarters. In a bowl, mix the sugar and water and stir until it is completely dissolved. Put all ingredients into blender and mix until all the kiwi chunks are smooth.

then put it in the fridge to chill for an hour or two

Yields about 4 and a half cups pulp which was just perfect for our ice cream maker. Then throw it in your ice cream maker and process as the instructions tell you.

For the ice-cream-makerless among you, I think this is one of those recipes that you can throw in the fridge and just scrape or stir with a fork every couple of hours so that it doesn’t freeze into a solid block.


The final product is a little over a quart. All the better to eat immediately the cup that won’t fit in the container…


*Side note* So far we’ve found that our ice creams and sorbet taste better after a couple of hours in the freezer, than they do straight out of the ice cream maker. Strange?

      Any freezer-safe container will do. That particular container arrived at our house with curry or some other Thai food in it, so I’m not exactly sure where to purchase them.
