completed pidgin submission

December 23, 2012

How have everyone’s holidays been?

In addition to all the revelry (and there was revelry. so. much. revelry…) I had a handful of deadlines, which fortunately, I was able to complete in time.

Amongst the more fun of those deadlines was this submission to J. David McKenney’s Pidgin paper doll competition.

These are the completed designs that I sent along.

chalk wall II

April 26, 2012

I tackled the 15-foot behemoth at 4th Down to give it a fresh look over the last weekend.

That weird thing in the middle is a light-up hockey mask.

it glows

Here are some detail shots.

I was using recalcitrant Bistro chalk markers and practically gave myself carpal tunnel during the process, but they look about 1000x better than regular chalk. MARVY UCHIDA, MAKE MORE COLORS WITH A WIDER TIP WOULD YA? Also, a note to others that want to use the same, this stuff stains chalkboard paint. There is no erasing it, you have to repaint your surface and start over.

What is a shot-ski, you ask? Barring significant height differences, it’s a quick way to you and 3 of your best friends wasted frat-bar style.

autism speaks

March 18, 2012

Autism Speaks is a wonderful organization that provides resources for people and families with autism while raising awareness. I was hired to illustrate and design a blog header and video slate for their guest blogger Kerry Magro.

Here are screenshots of the work from their website.

osprey posters

March 6, 2012

Look at these osprey posters, aren’t they great?

From what I heard, the event was a great success! I’m glad I could be a part of it by providing the poster illustration.

dino tattoos – a love note

February 14, 2012

Here is a love note to dinosaurs in the form of a couple of simple stegosaurus tattoos (they existed, OK?). Celebrate your love for dinosaurs by getting one of these tattooed this Valentine’s day!

Jeez, my signatures are HUGE. Don’t get that part tattooed, got it? Good.

december liquor store window

January 15, 2012

I had the opportunity to design the window for a local liquor store in December. Keeping the themes of winter and booze, here is what I came up with.

The inside view.

Here’s a close up of the martini snowflake.

And a close up of the wine snowflake!

The store is located near the corner of Berry and N 7th. Hurry if you want to see it, I’ll be taking it down to put up the January window soon!

wedding suite and printed materials

November 19, 2011

It may come as no surprise that I designed all the printed materials for our wedding. Here are some really marginal pictures of most of them.

The Save the Date:

The bridal shower invite:

Our neat-o triple fold invitation:

the front

the back of the rsvp card

the inside

The Menu/Programs:

The poor picture quality doesn’t do them justice. It was a learning experience and not everything was perfect (hello RSVP cards with no name line)  but we were pretty happy with the results!

It was certainly a fun design challenge to keep the themes consistent without being boring and repetitive.
