The final image of this dramatic series!

this image is still ©Cat Baldwin, i'm just terrible at signing my work

I painted this skull for a buddy back in Oregon, he’s the one in the striped polo with the grandpa shades. It was inspired by one of those more upbeat Facebook chain-things where you promise to make something unique for the first five people who comment on your note, or whatever, so I guess no one can say nothing good has come of Facebook.

Dramatic art image removal from Facebook: Day Five, one more to go…

click for full size!

The inspiration for this comic speaks for itself. I was in school at the time and trying to juggle schoolwork, work (barely as you can see) and my awesome albeit late-night relationship. Thank god I had a very lenient manager at the time and if it’s any consolation to anyone out there tsk-tsking, I’m marrying that bartender this September!

So I’ve decided to remove any and all art images from Facebook because I recently reviewed their privacy terms and didn’t find them satisfactory. Please, if you are an artist (or not) do the same yourself, you can find them here.

Section 2 part 1 is the most illuminating: “For content that is covered by intellectual property rights, like photos and videos (“IP content”), you specifically give us the following permission, subject to your privacy and application settings: you grant us a non-exclusive, transferable, sub-licensable, royalty-free, worldwide license to use any IP content that you post on or in connection with Facebook (“IP License”).”

What this translates to is, “You know man, you still OWN the copyright ‘n all, but you know, we can use your images like when and if we want to without having to pay you a dime. Oh yeah, and our friends can use’m too.” Myself, I haven’t found any  of my artwork smuggled into the sidebar banner advertisements or anyplace else but I know someone who has!

Now, if you’ve managed to bear with me through that jargon-y garbage, I ceremoniously remove from Facebook and place here…. My painting of an artichoke.

In keeping with the nature of this post, I would like to restate that any and all images, videos, text or other media posted in this blog are © Cat Baldwin, 2011 unless otherwise stated and may  only be used with permission, thankyouverymuch.
